My name is Richard, and I recently went through a pretty traumatic leg injury while working out. While I was playing basketball, I was in a dead sprint and someone tripped me, sending me hurdling to the ground. The impact caused my left femur to dislocate, shattering my hip socket into six pieces (this is also referred to as an acetabular fracture) in the process. My expected recovery time is 5-6 months and during this period I will not be able to work or do much other than PT and resting at home.

I'm not one to normally ask for this kind of financial aid from friends and family and I hate being a burden; however, I do not currently have health insurance at my job (serving at a restaurant) and can not work while I recover, leaving me very desperate financially.

The surgery was quoted to me at $45,000 from the hospital, which does not include the cost of my initial hospital visit (when the doctor put my leg back into place), nor the PT and lost wage of not being able to work for several months.

I set the goal to $45,000 (the price of the surgery) knowing it likely won't be fully met, but literally every cent would help me more than you know. I appreciate the time you took to read this and if you do decide to donate words can not describe how much I appreciate the assistance.
