This is Mickey Mann, who lives in the City of Avalon on beautiful Santa Catalina Island. Mickey is a guy that everybody loves. Some of you may know him as Coach Mickey, some may know him from remodeling your home, or some may know him from childhood.

 

Mickey was born with a natural magnetism that draws people to him. He has a smile that warms your heart and everlasting love for life.

 

Mickey has been living the past decade with pain in his left hip and right foot, but dealt with it as it would come and go. In the last 2 years, he has suffered from the excruciating pain that is unbearable at times and prevented him from doing all the things he loves ...playing softball, tennis, and building homes.

 

Six months ago, Mickey had no choice but to put his hammer down and seek medical assistance. As difficult as it has been for him to turn down work, Mickey has finally put himself first. His doctor referred him to an Orthopedic Surgeon, and after some testing and X-rays to confirm, Mickey has been diagnosed with stage 3 Osteoarthritis.

 

His Orthopedic Surgeon highly recommends a full hip replacement and has referred him to a partner foot specialist that will perform surgery on Mickey's foot following the recovery and rehabilitation from his full hip surgery.

 

Osteoarthritis breaks down the cartilage cushioning the ends of your bones; your body attempts to repair the loss by creating bone spurs near the damaged area, which brings Mickey most of his unbearable pain.

 

With being out of work for six months, and the multiple trips he has made to the mainland from Catalina Island. And under the care of a medical team comes the high price of paying for boat fares, Lyft rides, copays for the surgery, and cost of living expenses while he gets through these much-needed surgeries and physical therapy.

 

The best recovery for Mickey is a stress-free recovery where he can concentrate on gaining his strength and full mobility back and have the opportunity to live a pain-free rest of his life on the island which he calls home. Mickey should not have to worry about the bills and how he is going to make ends meet until he makes it through the recovery from both of these surgeries.
