Support for Dr. B

On Wednesday September 23, 2015 there was a large gas explosion in Columbia, MD that destroyed six townhomes on the 12000 block of Sleepy Horse Lane.

Unfortunately Dr. Honi Bamberger (our mother) had lived in one of those homes since it was built, 21 years prior.  Late at night and early the next morning we were able to grab a few important personal items and some old family photos.  However, everything else in the house was destroyed and the house itself is slated to be bulldozed.

Fortunately, no one was critically injured and as we have started to say daily,  "Stuff is just stuff."  She does have insurance and the little things that we take forgranted such as clothes, shoes, toiletries, will all eventually be replaced.

As we left the house at 1am that morning, escorted by firefighters, she said, "I want to take my math books that I have written, all of my supplies for teaching....." but everything was soaked and damaged and we were only allowed to take what we could quickly grab.

Insurance will cover most things but unlikely will be able to assist her in rebuilding her enormous mathematic book and supply collection that she has amassed in over 40 years of teaching.  I am starting this campaign so that she can begin to buy back all of those manipulatives, books and resources so that she can as quickly as possible go back to what she loves so much, teaching children and teachers mathematics.

Any donation is greatly appreciated and will go a long way to help spread her love of math to teachers and children all over.

Thank you for your constant support during this very trying time.  Our family truly appreciates it from the bottom of our hearts.
