Blakely Lockhart, an honors student who has been accepted to the Presidential Leadership Program at Christopher Newport University, is struggling with a diagnosis of Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome . This lovely young woman has been selected to attend a special program at Mayo Clinic  that will help her with her disease management. This Pediatric Pain Magement Center program is focused on improving the quality of life for patients like Blakely. The opportunity for Blakely to attend this program comes at a great expense, but her physician believes that it is her best shot at managing her symptoms so she can be successful as a CNU  student and beyond.

Blakely is my 'God daughter'. She is one of the most loving and giving people I know, and consistently donates her precious time to my special needs daughter. Even when her own needs are great, she is always willing to give herself. Blakely is an example of Servant Leadership.

The funds raised through this You Caring site will go directly to the $29,000 "co-pay" for the Mayo program. There are additional expenses for this program, as well as the extensive costs associated with the training of Blakely's service dog (Cooper), which Blakelys parents are working hard to finance.
