Help Us Get Home - Emergency Relief for Unhoused Couple

Please help us (and our cute kitties) get back home!

Hi, we're Seth and Julianne, a young couple from Michigan who dreamed of spending winter in sunny California. We scraped and saved for the trip, but unfortunately our savings were depleted by unexpected repairs and rising gas prices. So much so that we rely on food stamps and pantries to eat. Any money we recieve from social programs goes to feeding our animals and paying our bills. Every month is a calculated battle to keep our phones on and our coach insured. Theres no untapped savings, no security net for us to fall back on. Our plans to return to Michigan this spring are no longer in our grasp.

You might be thinking "Why don't you just get a job" and, I assure you, we have tried. We wrongly assumed we'd be able to find work easily to fund our return trip home. We have both applied for work over the last few months with zero results. No one wants to hire a transplant. (Can you blame them?) If you or someone you know can offer us full time work, we will take it and remove this petition.

As we have been unable to find work and have no outside help, weve been forced to make this plea - please help us get home. Weve come to understand that parking is very limited here and our loud gas generator is unwelcome on the few streets were able to park on. We didnt count on so many parking restrictions, nor did we expect to face so much hostility toward RV folks. We often feel tired, hungry, and scared. Your help in returning us to safety is vital.

Now, a breakdown of how we will spend your donation. First and foremost, we need to install solar power so we can stop relying on our noisey, expensive, and eco-unfriendly gas generator. Following solar, we need to seal our roof to protect the integrity of our coach's frame. Now, the big bucks - GAS. Our coach has a whopping 75 gallon tank that will need to be filled SIX times in order for us to get back to Michigan. With the current gas prices it will take us between $400-$500 to fill our tank. That means we need around $2,500 just to make it home. This brings our base goal to $3,500. Any additional money we recieve will go to repairs, animal care, and basic necessities.

We are both tough and prideful people so we hate to ask for help, but without it we will remain stuck on the streets of Venice. Financial insecurity is terrifying, and we are eager to be back on our feet in a stable housing situation. Every donation helps and we are sincerely grateful for every dollar. Thank you for your compassion.
