Dustins fight against Cancer

Donation protected
Dustin Coomes was diagnosed in January 2019 with colorectal cancer stage 3. He decided to stand on God's word faithfully for about seven months. It was / is a constant battle daily to put on the full armor of God to fight against Satan's attacks. In July 2019 he decided to do treatments for six weeks of chemo and radiation. In October 2019 he had surgery to cut out his whole rectum part of his colon and have a permanent colostomy bag. Due to complications of the wound on the anal area and the staples not keeping it together due to scared tissue from radiation and an abscess infection. It has delayed the 6 months of stronger chemo. As of  this year 2020 Dustin was in the hospital for 70+days and had undergone 10+surgeries fighting several abscess pocket fluid infections every time he would be cut open for surgery. The doctor's last resort to promote healing in the anal wound was to do a stomach muscle flap to get placed in the anal wound to make up for the radiated tissue and promote healing faster after several months of delay. Well the skin layer of the stomach muscle flap turned to dead skin and had to go under surgery again to cut off the skin layer of the healthy stomach muscle attached to the anal wound so it wouldn't cause gangrene. Because of Dustin lossing over 110 pounds he had extra skin to pull over the anal wound. Due to infection they had to recut open the stomach and anal wound to scrap out the infection and be placed on wound care for both wounds. While in the hospital he had several CT scans of Chest and abdomen, a pet scan, a whole body bone scan, liver biopsy, echography abdominal, lung X-ray and more. While delaying the stronger chemo due to the wounds and infections, the doctors said his stage has changed to stage 4. So the doctors requested to do radiation on his lung and shoulder scapula bone. The 5-6 doctors agreed to start the 6 month intensive chemotherapy right away as of April 2020 while still caring for the stomach and anal wound. Through all of this Dustin hasn't been able to work or drive therefore his wife, Brenda, has been transporting him to all of his treatments of radiation, chemotherapy, wound vac changing, bloodwork, routine CT scans, hospital stays, and follow up appointments. She has been his caregiver through this, along with taking care of their 2 boys ages 5 and 13 years old which has forced her to not work. Then the COVID-19 pandemic happened and on top of everything there was homeschooling added to the plate. We feel that he could get better treatment at the Moffitt Cancer Center which is in Tampa, FL near more family. Being back home in Florida near family and friends will be a great support during this time of treatment. Alaska is limited on cancer treatment as well. Chemotherapy will be able to be transferred to another state. Their current living expenses include rent, electric, gas heat, transportation cost, auto insurance, phone bills, ect., as well as medical bills, pharmacy prescription drugs, and medical supplies not covered with insurance. God has been our provider through this all by using others to help and there are NO limits to what He can do. Thank you for supporting our family in this time of need with finances, prayers, and encouraging words, also please share this post with others so this story can touch others.
