Jennifer's fight with cancer began late last year in October 2019. She began having constipation and abdominal pain which quickly became unbearable and it was at this point she knew something wasn't right. After several tests and scans, the diagnosis of Stage 4 Rectal Cancer sent shockwaves through her family, friends and community. It's amazing how life can change instantly and changes one's perspective on life with one simple word... Cancer..
Her diagnosis alone was shocking enough for her and her family, but even worse news followed. Jennifer's cancer was diagnosed as a rare and aggressive malignant neuroendocrine tumor and the doctor's advised her that surgical removal was not an option as it would make it spread faster. The aggressive cancer has metastasized to her liver and lungs over the past few months despite aggressive Radiation and Chemotherapy. Jennifer has been on an emotional and painful journey over the past few months and needs your help and support.
Jennifer worked for years as a Lunch Lady (mom) at the local Elementary School. Shortly after the diagnosis, she was in too much pain and stress to keep the job she loved dearly. She frequently speaks emotionally about her beloved coworkers and lunch students who, along with the school's facility, have been an amazing support system for her. Their fundraising efforts and support have been appreciated and much needed. Its apparent how much Jennifer was loved and appreciated at the school and how she feels the same about them. She's hoping to someday go back to her school and be a lunch-mom again! Jennifer also has 3 beautiful children and a loving husband that adore and support her. One of her goals is to see her daughters and son grow up to have families of their own someday. If you have met or know Jennifer, then you know she is a caring and compassionate person and lover of animals. Jennifer has never known a stranger and people tend to gravitate to her because of her sweet and kind persona that becomes immediately obvious to all that meet her.
Not only is Jennifer in a fight for her life, she's also in a fight against the HealthCare and Insurance systems. Within just a few months, the hospital bills have racked up to well over $300K and climbing... and her insurance company is fighting to reduce treatments and deny claims. Her specialists and hospitals have been hinting that unless they get paid, treatment may not be able to continue. The financial burden has recently been placed solely on Jennifer and her husband, which is why she needs your help and support. Anyone who was ever been to a doctor or hospitalized knows the insane cost of healthcare.
Recently, Jennifer's cancer has gotten worse in her liver and is spreading to her lungs. Her doctors say there are other treatment options for this tumor but are much more expensive and invasive. These new rounds of Chemotherapy will give Jennifer a fighting chance against this horrible disease. She knows that unless she gets help soon that the hospitals won't continue treatment and she would be left with no other options.
