TL;DR: Ya boy needs to make The Chop.

Hi folks!  My name is Lee Brady, and I'm a student currently studying sociology and LGBT studies at the University of Maryland.  I'm also a nonbinary trans man, about two years into my transition.  

I started testosterone hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in August of 2018, and since then have been seeking out an opportunity to get top surgery (double mastectomy).  I have finally found a surgeon in my region who accepts my insurance and has experience working with trans patients: Dr James Chappell in Annapolis, MD.  Unfortunately, my insurance is only willing to cover 80% of the mastectomy costs, and none of the liposuction costs (Chappell does not offer top surgery without lipo).  The estimated cost after insurance is approximately $3,600, plus a coinsurance payment for anesthesia.



Top surgery is an incredibly important part of my transition, and I desperately need it, both to relieve the intense dysphoria I have surrounding my chest and to prevent damaging my ribs from binding.   I have been binding almost daily to reduce my dysphoria since February of 2017, and this chronic strain can cause tremendous damage, but without surgery I have no hope of stopping.
