XPLORid - Cycling nomads with a mission
World tour on bicycle
We are Linda and Ben, cycling nomads exploring the world: XPLORid!
We left the Netherlands on June 15, 2020 to cycle non-stop around the world. A (sailing)boat or cargo ship takes us across the oceans.
Every day is a new adventure. After about 50 km of cycling, late in the afternoon, the search starts to find a plae for the night. We are not shy to knock on doors. By doing so we meet many different people and discover new cultures up close.
Often we are invited. If there’s no room inside, we camp in the garden. Sometimes we also find shelter at a church or school. In remote areas we sleep in our tent. In good weather only on our mattress and a mosquito net.
Mission
During our world bicycle tour, we knock on people's doors to ask for a place to stay for the night. We are often welcomed very warmly. The hospitality we experience is unprecedented. That’s why we would like to give something in return.
When we meet people in need, we locally buy what they need. In addition, we directly support nature (conservation) projects.
Goal
Our goal is to help people and nature. Not by giving money, but by buying locally what is needed.
All aid projects are published in a blog and then listed on the “XPLORaid ” page.
We raise 1 euro for every kilometer we cycle. This equals € 100,000 for our aid projects. Our PBO Foundation XPLORid has been established for a transparent proces and accountability of the donations and spendings.
Join this adventure and support us with a few cycling kilomters. For more information, please visit www.xplorid.today.
