‏My name is Shadi AbuZanoona, President of the Basma Association for Relief and Development in the Gaza Strip, Palestine.

The Basma Relief Society is a charity run by Gazan people, for Gazan people, from inside Gaza. It is registered with the Palestinian Ailuthority, registration number 8710. It has first hand experience of the poverty and inhumane conditions that they have lived in for decades under Israeli occupation. Shadi Abuzanoona has managed the organisation for several years to counteract those problems and provide vital relief. But now, Gaza is experiencing the toughest assault on its people and property, hospitals and schools, that it has experienced in decades. A victim of Israeli hostility for years, the Palestinian people are experiencing more death, destruction, poverty, disease and starvation than any human being should ever endure. Many world governments are standing by, or even contributing to the problem, by withholding vital aid.
