Xóchitl's Facial Feminization Surgery Fund & Recovery

My name is Xóchitl. I'm a Latine trans femme originally from the SF Bay Area. I teach math at a small high school in the peninsula and currently live in Oakland. After navigating a lengthy bureaucratic process with my medical provider I finally received a date for my facial feminization surgery. My surgery is scheduled for May 8th. :)

A little over five years ago I started transitioning and it's been a painful, overwhelming, and miraculous journey. I've struggled my whole life with my gender and self-image and this surgery is a huge step in becoming more comfortable with my body. Unfortunately, one of the procedures I will need is not covered by my insurance and I will have to pay out of pocket for this. I will also be needing as much support as possible for my recovery which could take up to 4-6 weeks.

As much as I love teaching it does not provide me with the financial security to navigate life in the Bay Area much less the means to afford the expense of this surgery and recovery. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)
