On December 23rd, our dear friend Xochilt (Sochi) McIntyre suffered a serious fall at home. 911 was called and Sochi was immediately flown to Washington DC for a higher level of care. The medical team placed her in a medically induced coma, performed a surgery to place a drain, are assisting her breathing, and are constantly running tests. MRI testing has determined that Sochi suffered a stroke which likely explains the severity of her fall.
Doctors have detected brain activity and have weaned her off of sedation medications but she still remains in a coma. She has begun to make slight movements in her legs, arms and head. Doctors have advised that as she continues to improve, she will still require likely months of rehab.
Sochi is in the Critical Care Floor of the MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington DC. No calls or flowers are permitted to her room at this time. Her daughter, Iliana Sweet, has advised that if you leave a voicemail on Sochi’s phone, she is slowly playing them for her to hear each day. You can leave a message for Sochi at [phone redacted]
There is still a long road of recovery still ahead and we hope to help Sochi’s family with support of medical/care expenses, food/meals, and other expenses that may arise for the family related to her care and recovery.
