Hi, my name is Brittany and in September 2022 I had the gastric bypass to improve my quality of life with my kiddos. Very quickly after my surgery my body started to decline. I wasn't feeling very well and one morning I woke up and my vision was completely blurry and doubled. I felt so weak and dizzy I couldn't walk very well. I had made an appointment that wasn't for a month and a half and also went to the hospital a couple times. Each time they would pump me with fluids and send me home I wasn't being tested for anything and I just felt so horrible I kept declining. Then on the 1st of the year my legs gave away and I could no longer walk. They took me to the hospital and my life was completely flipped upside down. I spent the next three months in three different hospitals and a nursing home. I had developed a horrible vitamin deficiency that had caused my optic nerve to swell causing my blindness. I also developed a horrible brain infection. The doctors explained that the vitamin deficiency was so bad including the 100 lb weight loss in 4 months that my body was completely malnourished and I've lost so much muscle mass I have to completely learn how to walk again and that's if I can walk again. They also had to place a G- Tube so I can absorb the nutrition that I need right now. I do my formula feedings every night while I'm sleeping. So learning how to conduct my life blind and not able to walk has definitely been a difficult journey. We live on the second floor of our apartments and getting out is definitely hard to say the least. The apartment is not set up very well so I'm stuck mainly in the living room where my hospital bed and commode is set up. It is important that we move to a place where I can be more functional and independent. After almost dying twice being out of the home for 3 months and not being able to work since September our family is definitely struggling. So I am asking for help from everybody if you can, please donate. The funds will also go towards medical equipment needed that insurance will not cover. Thank you.
