My good friend has been diagnosed with breast cancer (after surviving an almost always fatal leukemia a decade ago).  She had surgery on 12/24/19 and they found it in her nodes, so they may go back in for a second surgery.  She will then have chemo and radiation.  She has two boys (16 and 13). On top of this, she was just laid off from her job, and because she was a contractor she got no severance. Her eldest son just had his pelvis shattered, and is currently in a wheelchair temporarily.   I kid you not.

There are the basic medical expenses that are uncovered by insurance (which thank goodness she has through her husband’s job). But they cannot afford their rent if she is not employed (god bless the Bay Area) and now that she has been diagnosed, she can’t take disability for pay even if she does get another job. And there is care for her son, and for her as she gets super sick with the chemo, etc, etc.

I know they will be ok. She knows that,  too. But I think some help will help them. No amount is too small and anything helps. We have all been stressed for cash...and man, we know how much it can help.

I remember once saying to a friend, “Money doesn’t buy happiness.” And he said, “True, but lack of money can buy a lot of unhappiness.”
