HELP FOR LEBANON - Matched X 4

Donation protected
My dear Friends

I need your help.

First of all, thank you for your messages, prayers, asking about family and friends in Lebanon. My family is safe,. My friends are safe, but most have lost everything. As for my city, most of it has been wiped out. Over 300000 people are homeless. Multitudes of injuries, missing people, martyrs dead. Childhood memories will remain distant memories, with no more physical spaces to visit, to cherish. The level of devastation is only about to start showing. With no port, no economy, no business, no livelihood, no shelter, no medicine.. my country is in ruin.

I was born into war torn Lebanon. For a long time, I’ve thought the worst was behind us. That I am of the last generation that experienced the trauma. That my parents pain and sorrow and exile was all for a good cause, the rebirth of Lebanon. Unfortunately, for the Lebanese, destiny does not smile for long. What happened this week, from neglect, corruption, geopolitics, has caused a human tragedy of worldwide and historic proportions.

I call on you for help. I have lost a part of me this week. All that brings me comfort is that this is my moment to help to rally. No pride is left, so I genuinely ask you to help. The many NGOs in Lebanon need your help. We are lacking the basic supplies of survival.

I personally know all of you. This is not an instagram or facebook call. It is not a trend. We have had personal conversations about you visiting Lebanon, about me taking you around, showing the best spots, eating the best shawarma, jumping in the sea and going to the mountains. We have danced to Lebanese music, we have looked at beautiful Lebanese people, we have said Yalla and Khalas.

We will not be visiting Lebanon together as tourists anytime in the near future. There is nothing to visit. But I’d like to keep this thought alive. That one day, I will show you all the beauty of my country, my childhood streets, my favorite café, and the beautiful houses that my culture once built.

To keep this hope, I ask you to donate. I have set up a GoFundMe. I will personally match the first 3000 dollars. I am working with my employer for them to match mine.

This means, every dollar you give, will be multiplied by 4!

I will update you on which NGO it goes to, that needs it the most and that my company will match. I will send you pictures of their work. I will thank you with hugs when it is safe and food and forever gratitude.

Donate what you can. The price of hummus, a zaatar bread or a hotel night in Beirut.

Donate what you’d give me for a birthday, for Christmas. The drink you’d take me out to have. The bottle of wine we’d share.

This means the world to me.
