Service Dog for Ethan

Ethan is a very LOVING, out-going, ENERGETIC and LOUD 8 year old boy. What many people do not know just by looking at Ethan is that he has been diagnosed with several neurological disoders including High-Functioning Autism, Epilepsy, and Severe Abdominal Migraines. Ethan has also been diagnosed with Petit Mal seizures also known as Absence seizures or staring seizures. Ethan's service dog will help us TREMENDOUSLY because it could possibly be able to alert us as to when Ethan is having a seizure as well. Right now, unless we are right there with him, we have no clue how many seizures Ethan is experiencing.
Ethan was diagnosed with High Functioning Autism at the age of four when the preschool he was attending saw some spectrum tendencies in Ethan. After preforming test it was confirmed that Ethan was on the spectrum and also was diagnosed with Sensory Integration. Ethan began seeing a local neurologist and it was around this time that his speech therapist and occupational therapist both mentioned that they thought Ethan was having Absence seizures. After experiencing a few of these ourselves we mentioned it to his neurologist and even recorded a few of his seizures and Ethan was diagnosed with Epilepsy at the age of six. As if this is not enough to worry about Ethan also has speech apraxia and SEVERE abdominal migraines. All of this combined has caused Ethan to really be a home body and he often has meltdowns when it is time to leave the house. A service dog would tremendously help Ethan with meltdowns and in calming Ethan when he is scared or is facing a meltdown. Ethan also has trouble doing things independently and does NOT like sleeping alone. His service dog will be with Ethan at all times and will help boost Ethan's self-confidence. Most importantly Ethan's service dog will be able to alert us as to when Ethan is experiencing or getting ready to experience a seizure. This could be very crucial to our family and could really help reduce ALOT of stress with wondering exactly how many seizures Ethan is experiencing. Since Ethan's neurologist has suggested a dog, Ethan has talked nonstop about his new best friend, his buddy, HIS service dog. As many of you know Ethan well, you know that Ethan does NOT meet a stranger and goes out of his way to talk to anybody and everybody and has been known to go up to a complete stranger and hug them just because they are wearing something he likes. This is a HUGE concern because we never know who he may encounter. Once again, having a service dog will help us keep Ethan safe because the dog will be able to alert us if Ethan is in danger or if Ethan runs off without one of us, the dog will be trained to help find Ethan. Many parents with kids with Autism have experienced their child wondering off, also know as elopement. Our dog will be trained in this. So as you can see, a service dog could be life changing for Ethan as well as the rest of our family.
Ethan would GREATLY benefit from having a service dog, because the service dog would allow Ethan independence, self-confidence, and would GREATLY boost Ethan's self-esteem. Although we have been approved for a dog, due to the cost of the dog, we need your help!! We will be working with a non-profit 501 (C)(3)organization that specializes in providing Service Dogs for Autism, Diabetes, Epilepsy, and PTSD. To properly train these dogs, requires ALOT of time, dedication and $$$$. SO, we are asking that you help us if you can, and PLEASE share our story. All donations are tax deductible so you will receive a receipt of any and all donations made. Having a service dog will GREATLY impact our lives for the better, allow Ethan, and our family to do so much more as well will lift a large burden off of our lives.
