My name is Amanda and I’m starting a Gofundme for my sister, Jessica Franken, for medical expenses and her recovery journey. Jessica has been battling with severe chronic back pain for the past few years. She has been the caretaker for our brother diagnosed with MS and Devics disease and our beloved Grandmother who was on home hospice for 8 months before passing. Jessica couldn’t live with the pain any more and financially prepared for surgery and recovery. Jessica had her first surgery in NJ last January and shortly after relocated to SC, where she continued therapy. She went for her second surgery June 2022, 5 days after surgery she had complications of spinal fluid leaking and required 2 additional surgeries to fix the spinal leak. After facing these surgeries she ended up having another surgery that required a lumbar drainage tube. She ended up getting multiple infections and became septic leading to ICU care for a couple weeks. After leaving ICU she had 2 more surgeries because the infection was so severe. After facing 6 surgeries total, she required extensive physical therapy to strengthen her muscles and nerves to walk again. Her recovery requires 3 IV antibiotics multiple times a day at home through PICC line. Jessica is the glue that has kept our family together over the years and now she needs our support to get her through these challenging circumstances.
