We Love Antoinette: Community Care Fund

Antoinette has been fully diagnosed now with Stage 4b Cervical Cancer.  


Treatment plan is to do six weeks of radiation/chemo combination. Then about four weeks rest.  Then a full round of chemo.


Antoinette needs our support now more than ever. Reach down in your organizing or resources bag of tricks and pull out what you can. Please, if you can, donate a few bucks here on gofundme or PayPal. Whatever way you can. Every penny and every offer is appreciated by Antoinette. I can testify—she has been moved to tears from your support thus far. And it all has helped.

I’d stand here and yell, “cancer fucked with the wrong chingona!” but there is never a ‘right’ chingona. We are all in this together. So hold tight to one another and let’s lift Antoinette up together.

Hey all, it’s Rebecca again

As some of you have heard, Antoinette has been diagnosed with stage 3 cancer (fuck the world)

She has also been the victim of a theft that stole much of the resources she set aside to deal with surviving during treatment(double fuck the world)

If you know our friend well, then you know she is intrepid and brilliant and not the best at asking for support.

That’s why we are here—to stand by her given these very real and very scary circumstances

If you have donated before, from the bottom of my whole heart (and of course, hers), thank you. If you haven’t, or can spare a little more, please take this time to dig deep for that $10 or $15 you might spend on lunch out. Our comrade really needs us and she is a special one.

As you may have heard, our vivacious, fabulous comrade, Antoinette Gaggero, has been diagnosed with cervical cancer. 

Like so many of you, I was terrified, I felt my heart beating in my chest when I found out. 

Not just for my beloved friend, but for the countless Latinxs who are diagnosed every year—the rate of cervical cancer amongst latinxs is the highest of any ethnic group, twice as high as white women. 

This might be due to environmental racism, access to competent and holistic healthcare, and all of the other factors that put marginalized populations at risk.

However, those stats don’t make up the full, dynamic person that is Antoinette. She is not a statistic. She is not a number. She is a lively, brilliant, insightful woman who has taught us so much about the world and living in it responsibly 

If you are reading this as something that popped up in your Facebook feed, I know we might not know each other, but if you are still reading, you know what I’m saying: You know how special our friend is. Or maybe she has touched your life in someway without fully getting to know each other. Antoinette has touched so many of us—Her work around anti police organizing in particular and Black-Brown Solidarity has helped many families of victims of police terror build networks to work in collaboration. 

I compel you to donate a few dollars to Antoinette’s self care and healthcare fund

This could be a long fight. And we are hopeful—Antoinette has yet to hear if the cancer has spread—so let’s make sure she feels held in this time of unsure-ness and anxiety. 

If you can only donate a few dollars, please know every little bit is appreciated. Let’s use this crowd funding campaign to gather around our friend and lift her spirits up. When it comes to cancer, like state violence—if we fight against it together we are a force to be reckoned with !
