The Chicago Blackhawks Foundation believes that investing in local businesses is essential to the future of our communities. That’s why we created Support West, a program built in direct partnership with minority-owned small businesses on Chicago’s West Side. Through financial resources, peer and business mentorship, and marketing support, Support West strengthens the economic corridors of West Side neighborhoods. Last year, we introduced an advisory group model that supports the cohort with high-level guidance in areas such as consumer marketing, product scaling, and wholesale distribution. Advisors also provided individualized support in financial resourcing, banking, debt reduction, and operational best practices—including payroll, hiring, and location logistics.

Each year, over $200,000 is directly invested in five small businesses to support their operations. This funding has helped grantees open brick-and-mortar locations, hire more than 100 West Side-based employees, and expand their offerings. Notably, 100% of participating businesses have reported improvements in their business plans and financial strategies thanks to mentorship provided through the program.

For the past three years, Breakthru Tournament has been supporting Support West. Thanks to your incredible support, our teams contributed $191,041 in 2025—and this year, we’re aiming even higher!
