I have worked with someone for 8 years. He has been with our company for 25+ years. On Wednesday, during his lunch, he was on the phone with his wife when he heard the home's smoke/fire detectors going off. She discovered there was, in fact, a fire in their basement.

He immediately told her to get out, and he called the fire department himself. By the time he got to the house, it was decimated by the fire and water damage.

You can see by the pictures what they have left... nothing. Over 30 years in the house, all belongings and memories are gone.

As he put it to me when I checked on him later that evening, "House is completely gone and everything in it," then "I have nothing."

I'm sure there is insurance to cover the home. If the home can be rebuilt, he was told by the insurance company to expect a minimum of 8-12 months before they can begin to go back in.

In the meantime, there will be great expenses in the way of rental fees, clothing replacement, etc.

I'm just trying to help in whatever way possible to help them rebuild their lives.

One thing I didn't mention is he has two sons he is also putting through college. That in itself is a huge financial burden.

Anything anyone here can do to assist this family will be greatly appreciated.

I hate it when bad things happen to GOOD people.
