Update: Nala is home. Putting minimal weight on her surgical leg but trying her best. We are helping her down the stairs to try and save the other back leg from too much work. Long road ahead but happy to have her home. Surgery and follow up ended up being closer to 8K however the vet said there were no other options. Prayers thoughts and all donations for this unanticipated expense are so graciously appreciated.

Update: Nala is ready to come home today 3/11 at 3 PM. All went well. She still isn't accepting weight on the surgical leg but hoping with time and pain management she will be walking normally. Poor girl has to sleep on the floor for the next few weeks so I too shall be sleeping on the floor. Thank you for all of our thoughts, concerns, prayers, and donations!

Update: Nala is out of surgery. Everything went well. She tore 90% of the ACL. No Complications . She’s staying over night for antibiotics and for pain management. No jumping running playing for 8 weeks. We can pick her up tomorrow afternoon. Thank you for all your thoughts and donations! It will help more than you know.

Update: Nala receives surgery today (3/10/24) and will require a 6 month rehab possibly including canine physical therapy.

Nala is an 8 year old lab shepherd mix who loves to play soccer and swim. She loves beach runs and the occasional snuggle with mommy. Her best friends are Kovu and Reese with the new family addition of Finn coming to join the pack. She recently was misdiagnosed with hip dysplasia and mild arthritis- she had been limping for about a year. However after receiving sedation and X-rays, a second opinion revealed the diagnosis to be incorrect. She now needs surgery to repair the ligament in her knee allowing her to walk. The current 3 leg hopping is increasing the strain on the remaining ACL in her other knee.
