My name is Lindsey and this is something really hard for me to share and is taking a lot of vulnerability to do so. I am not one to seek any direct help but I’m gathering sometimes it’s the only thing we can do when something means so much. So here is our story. The home Devin and I live in was previously my childhood/family home growing up I’ve lived here nearly all of my life besides a blip in my 20s. My mom and dad years back moved away and rented the house to me and then eventually sold me the home with a gift of equity out of the kindest and love they had for me to give me a start at life. Not all kids are so lucky to have parents to do such a selfless things for them and I am so aware of that. I owe them so much. Alot of our friends have been to our home and know how amazing of a space it is, I grew up here and now my children are being raised here.

Here is the hard part . I was previously married to my older children’s father and I will spare you all the details as at this point it is not what’s important but some of you already know the circumstances and what it has cost me.

I made the mistake of letting this person buy the house with me from my family and obviously things went south and we divorced…. And divorce can get pretty ugly. Given it was my family home I stayed and was given time to buy him out of the home as when him and I were together I was a stay at home mom and really had nothing to my name so I had to start from scratch. Obviously my current husband Devin had come into the picture and we quickly had a baby on the way so we decided he would move in to my home ( I know some may think that’s strange but this was my childhood home i didn’t think of it as my “previously married home” lol it was MY HOME and I didn’t want to give up on it) and we decided we would together try and get this house out of his name. Devin has worked hard at his physically demanding job for the last three years all while helping support two children that aren’t his blood, along with two other children that’s four in total! He built his credit up and did everything possible for us and I just give him so much credit for how amazing he is and what he’s done for my kids and I.

Unfortunately we are now on a major time limit! While we have been working on our finances for a more comfortable life and to get this house in our names only some unfortunate medical emergencies and then hardships that followed that led to my ex losing all his finances and him not being able to pay any means of child support or provide physical support of our kids. THIS is where we need your, help my ex husband during our divorce took a lean against the home we are living in so he could buy a new one. And because of those unfortunate events that took place the HELOC he took out has gone delinquent and he had stopped paying it. I was served forclosure papers and all the fees that come with it and all of this was out of my control and I had no knowledge of it until it was too late. Obviously he is unable to pay while he is in recovery and I am forced to pay in order to keep my home and prevent and fees that will be impossible to bring current. The amount we owe at this moment isn’t massive but still substantial enough that we can’t do it alone. With the holidays coming up and future fees being accumulated I want to put a stop to this forclosure. We spoke to lawyers and the bank is asking for nearly 3000 dollars to stop the process and then we can work out a deal for forbearance to get us ahead until Devin and I can officially buy my ex out of this house. We are working very closely with loan officers and a financial group to make this happen and it is in the works so this is something we are taking care of asap. I am putting my goal a bit higher as the fees from the forclosure rise the longer it takes to pay and I don’t know what that’s going to look like but I promise every dime we see here is going into me keeping this house. It really is frustrating, I have paid the mortgage on time every month since being on my own here yet they can forclose on my home because of someone else’s delinquency.

If I do not come up with this money I am likely going to lose my home as are my children and I’m not asking this of you lightly and I have exhausted every resource and idea on how we could do this alone before making a go fund me .

I am DEVASTATED at the thought of losing my home, all of my roots are here all of my animals are buried here I’ve put my whole heart and soul into this land. I’ve played pretend here and saved wild animals I’ve planted trees and grew gardens , I’ve brought all of my babies here and watched them grow and it is truly my dream home . From the time I was a child I knew I wanted to buy this house from my family if they moved it was always meant for me and I feel that to my core.
