Flood Relief for Verschoor Home
Donation protected
On Father's Day this year, my family experienced quite a surprise. A dam broke loose during a storm and flooded their house.
It is hard enough to be away from my family during holidays like Father's Day and Mother's Day, but even more so when I find that they are swimming in chest deep water to safety.
These pictures are of the aftermath of the damage done. They don't quite do justice to what the height of the waters were when they abandoned their home, but at least you can begin to get a picture of the devasation this storm did to their home, as well as their church.
Being across the country as they spend the day today doing what they can to salvage as much as they can, I am wishing there was more that I could do to help.
This campaign to raise funds is the only thing that comes to mind.
I appreciate anyone who takes the time to read this and considers donating in any way. There are many causes in this world worth giving your money towards and I understand if this one doesn't catch your attention. But this is my family and I want to do everything I can for them.
They do have flood insurance, but as with any insurance you are bound to come out worse off than you started out with (just ask anyone who has ever gotten into a car accident). So I am hoping that this campaign can help offset the inevitable loss they are going to experience.
If nothing else, please pray for them and their church as they begin the road of restoring what was lost.
