Squam River Covered Bridge 31 For 31
Tax deductible
The Squam River Covered Bridge in Ashland, NH will be thirty-one years old this year. Although it is still very structurally sound, it has reached the age where certain repairs are needed.
The Ashland Historical Society has recently received a bid from the original covered bridge builder, Arnold M. Graton Associates, for the work described below. Our desire is to raise $31,000 required, which is equivalent to a thousand dollars for each year of service and beauty this bridge has provided us. Our Campaign Logo is: 31 for 31
The areas of concern on this Town Lattice Truss structure, include the floors, guardrails, and trim exteriors. The bridge floor has outlived it’s 25-year life span and should be replaced. Also needing replacement are the guardrail caps, which are in poor shape. Maintenance to the walkway, scarred portal timbers and trim would all be beneficial to the overall look of the bridge.
Renovating the covered bridge will continue its legacy to shine over the waters of Squam Lake for generations to come. We hope that you will join us in our efforts to reach our goal, any donations would be greatly appreciated. All contributions received from this appeal will benefit the Squam River Covered Bridge. Any funds collected in excess of the repair costs will be escrowed by the Ashland Historical Society for future maintenance and repair of the bridge.
