Jessica's Ovarian Cancer Journey
Donation protected
This story is about Jessica Fisher, who whilst holidaying in Bali at Christmas time in 2015 with her husband and two young daughters, was unknowingly uncovering something that was about to change her world forever.
Jessica started to feel a little unwell whilst having a massage in Bali and when things didn't seem to improve by the time her family returned home to Perth a few days later, Jessica went to see her Doctor. Jessica's symptoms were not conclusive so was sent for bloods and a CT scan. The symptoms were feelings of nausea, loss of appetite and her tummy was hard to touch in areas.
Little did Jessica know that by Friday she would be receiving news that meant EVERYTHING was about to change.
"You have ovarian cancer".
Jessica is 33 years old!! This is quite rare for someone her age and on further testing it was discovered it was in fact stage 3C ovarian cancer and aggressive. The news was terribly confronting especially for Jessica and her husband Travis.
But in true Jessica Fisher form, she simply took this news in her stride. Jessica came to accept very quickly the journey she had been faced with and set to work with fighting with every ounce she had in her. Information gathering, naturopath appointments, forums and anything else that would give her a fighting chance. Her most obvious 2 reasons to get up every morning and get through another day is two very special 2 & 4 year old girls.
Being close to Jessica so many have messaged me and of course messaged the family because so many want to help out. There have been busy bee's at the house and meals cooked, offers to help out with the girls and with taking Jessica to appointments. We are really only weeks in and it was suggested that we create a GO FUND ME page. This I think is an excellent idea and for so many reasons. Jessica and Travis run their own business so a lot of business has had to be passed on as it is not possible to carry on at full capacity while Jessica is in full swing of treatment. There is now also the added costs of cleaners, running of the home, bills and hired help to assist in getting the girls to and from school and babysitting/daycare. This is a way that if people want to help and are really not sure how, that this will definitely be much appreciated by Jessica & Travis. Any donation whatsoever will be so helpful. Relieving some financial pressure will certainly help out this year. THANK YOU xxx Joanne
