A love story over many years was sealed at the Wedding of Michael and Maricel Lugg on the 20th of November this year.
Michael is a committed Disability Support Worker who works casually supporting his clients for up to 45 hours a week on a casual employment basis.
Sadly, just a week before Christmas, Maricel suffered two strokes and a burst heart valve, together with a heart infection causing her little body to struggle to survive. Maricel was put on gastric nasal feeding yesterday and is weighing a tiny 30kg in body weight.
As Maricel is not yet an Australian Citizen, as it is too close to their marriage, Michael is having to pay for all medical treatment including hospitalisation, Xrays, ct scans, antibodies, medicines etc to keep Maricel alive whilst praying for a bed to come up in Melbourne for her to have critical heart surgery. Maricel is currently in the Intensive care unit at the Wangaratta Hospital, with Michael by her side. As Michael needs to be by his wife's side, he is unable to work, hence is not earning an income as he is casually employed. Michael has been told that he has to pay for any tests done on Maricel as they occur and still has to pay for everyday hospitalisation during her admission and recovery period. Michael has just had to pay $1500 to get his vehicle repaired for him to travel to Melbourne when Maricel gets a bed to be by her side and has exhausted any savings that he had in paying for tests needed for his wife.
We are asking for your hearts to be touched by this story in aid of hoping to raise funds for Michael to be able to pay the hospital charges for his wife to hopefully recover. As Maricel has come from a Philippine Community, her own family are far from in a position to assist financially, and cannot afford to travel to see Maricel.
