Camp Fire- Paradise Ca
Donation protected
My sister, who is a forestry cook for Cal Fire and her family have lost their home, and all their belongings in the CampFire fire that spread through Paradise Ca. She had recently retired from the Upper Ridge Volunteer Fire Company 33 and her husband also recently retired from the Calif Conservation Corp (CCC) after 30+ years. They have 4 kids and had just moved into a rental house in Paradise. No renters insurance had been set up yet. Their daughter lived with them and lost her vehicle, as well as her place of employment, as it was one of the many structures that burned to the ground. Other structures that were lost was their bank, and their post office.
Although their 4 kids are grown, most of their belongings were in that house. The youngest had just joined the Army, the oldest recently got engaged, and the other is in Ohio doing a residency program. The daughter that lived at home, as well as mom and dad lost all their clothes and their day to day essentials.
We feel very blessed that they are all alive. They are not materialistic people and they have spent their lives helping others. Martha is a former special education aide at Cedarwood Elementary School, a former cook at the CCC Butte Fire Center, and she and Keith have spent many hours in classrooms teaching first aid, CPR, life saving, etc. My hope is that this will help them get some immediate relief (clothes, coats, shoes/boots, money for temporary living, kitchenware etc) on their way from tragedy to recovery..
