Help Sugar Walk Again
Donation protected
On January 29, 2023, our dog Sugar suddenly lost the ability to move her back legs. A trip to the emergency vet revealed she had Fibrocartilaginous embolism (FCE).
This is a rare type of embolism (sudden blocking of an artery) that occurs in the spinal cord. FCE occurs when materials that are usually found within the vertebral disc of the spine enter into the nearby vascular system (veins and arteries) and block one of the spinal cord vessels. Essentially causing a sort of stroke to the spinal cord.
Recovery is possible, and the first week is crucial to recovery, but this means she needs more vet visits, physical therapy, more labs to see the extent of the damage. As well as equipment like corrective shoes to keep her from knuckle-dragging, a special harness to help us lift her hind quarters.
She is our Sugar Pup and we refuse to just give up on her and let her live like this without putting the effort in to help her.
A small chance is still a chance, but we need help.
Those who donate can get art of their OC or Fursona as thank you.
Thank you in advance.
