In the early hours of Sunday the 15th of June, Christopher Potts was tragically taken from the world far too soon in an accident in Zimbabwe. His sudden loss has left a heartbroken family and friends struggling to come to terms with life without him. Chris was a loving son, a devoted brother, and a cherished friend to so many. Most importantly, he was a proud father to his three beautiful children, Patrick, Rachel, and Henry, who now face a future without their dad. He spoke about them often and with deep affection, truly a family man.

Chris, aged 45, was known for his character and humour, not only to everyone at his club but also to those in local cricket. He was a part of the 2014 Cross Cup winning squad, led the 2nd XI to promotion as captain for a lengthy tenure, and won the 3rd XI Cup in 2019, his final year in the UK. He joined his club around 2005, the last of the legendary Potts brothers to play. Chris was known as the "tough one" and played the game with heart, grit, and a fearless attitude, never taking a backward step. Like his brothers, Chris always had the club at heart. He was loyal, dependable, and always there for his team and family. He loved tours, with his performance in Trento being unforgettable. He was a hard worker and a beast on the rugby field, a thinker in cricket, and completely at peace by the water with a rod in hand. He was described as tough as nails and full of heart. Friends recall his ability to make people laugh, his willingness to help others, and his unwavering loyalty. He had a huge heart, cared deeply, gave freely, and loved fiercely. He was a beacon of hope and inspiration, a friend, brother, and protector who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. His laugh and perfectly timed sarcastic comments will be sorely missed.

In this devastating time, friends of the family have set up this GoFundMe to help alleviate the financial burden that comes with an unexpected passing. We are aiming to raise £2,000 to assist with travel costs, a memorial for their father and any extra funds will go towards supporting Henry in the pursuit of his BMX competitive racing, of which Chris was the sole provider. As well as helping to ease the pressures their family now face as they adjust to a new normal.

Any donation, no matter how small, will make a difference and be deeply appreciated. If you are unable to donate, simply sharing this fundraiser will help us reach more people who may be able to support. Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and love during this incredibly difficult time.
Let’s come together to give Chris the farewell he deserves and ensure his family are taken care of in the days ahead.
