Calling all fire brothers and sisters, friends, family, and anyone in between. A few of us have come together to create this relief fund for the Dominguez family. Veronica Dominguez has been with the Fire Department for 19 years and counting. Every third day, she leaves her family for a 24-hour shift to be there for those that need her in moment notice. Now it is our time to be there for her and her kids in their time of need. It's time to be her rescue.
In 2016, Veronica's Husband Edwin Dominguez was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Cancer. Since that time, while never loosing hope fighting this intense disease, he was in and out of Hospitals. Edwin had endured three grueling rounds of chemotherapy before being placed in remission. Unfortunately, that was short lived, as the cancer had returned, and he would require a Bone Marrow Transplant. In 2022, his 15 year old Son became his bone marrow donor and hero. Edwin's transplant was successful, and he was once again cancer free. However, in 2023 during the continued treatment period, things started to take a turn for the worst. He was now diagnosed with Chronic vs. Host disease. Which is a condition that occurs when donor bone marrow or stem cells attack the recipient. Those that new Edwin, know how hard the Lord fought for this angel. Complications from this disease ultimately caused Edwin to loose his battle. Edwin was being treated at MD Anderson in Houston Texas before his passing. His last wish was to pass at home in Florida with his family. Unfortunately, it was a never-ending battle to find a medical transport flight for him in his condition. Insurance would not cover it, but Veronica knew that she HAD to make it happen no matter what. And she did. Edwin was flown home and placed on Hospice care, where he was able to peacefully pass how he wanted and with his family by his side. He was a true fighter in life & faith and will truly be missed by all.
Now, this is where you come in. Due to insurance not covering the cost of the transport, the family had to incur over $20,000 in bills for the flight alone. Loosing a Husband, Father, Son, and friend is hard enough, but then to add the financial burdens that come with it can be devastating to any family. Veronica has carried the weight of all of this and is the strongest person I know. She selflessly gives to others daily and still maintains to be as tough as nails for her own family. If you could please donate any amount to this family, it would be forever appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this and the Dominguez family is eternally grateful to you.
