Rally for Randy!

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Derek Macias. I am organizing this fundraiser for a longtime friend of mine, Randy Juarez. Though, rather than try to explain in my own words, I believe his wife’s words will do him more justice than I ever could - with that, the following was written by his wife, Crystal Juarez:

My husband Randy Juarez, a 43yr old hard working husband and father of 2, has always worked very hard to provide our family with everything that we need. It saddens me to tell you Randy was seriously injured while attending this year’s 2024 Weekly Night Skate Festival, in Seattle WA. He suffered a broken ankle which leaves him unable to walk for the next 3-5 months. During this time, Randy will be unable to work, skate or be the providing father he has always been. This hurts my husband more than the injury itself. This is going to be a very difficult recovery for our family. Randy is very strong and we are sure he will make it through this, but he does have a long and hard road ahead of him.

Some of you may know, my husband is a full time heavy equipment mechanic, repairing and diagnosing some of the largest equipment you see in construction today. Randy has a degree in Industrial Maintenance Mechanics, and loves the work he does to support us. Randy is also a very active person, both physically as well as within our community. He is always going on walks, rollerblades and bike rides with the family. Randy is also very invested in working with others to promote their passions as well, from working on their logos, shirts, stickers and banners, to helping organize community events. Randy loves helping his friends and rarely asks anything for his time.

Along with myself and 2 children, Randy has always had a second family. That family comes with blades on their feet. My husband is a legend in the sport of Rollerblading and has a love for helping people get involved in the sport and watching the sport grow. While still being a showoff and fan favorite well into his 40’s, my husband is one of the oldest rollerbladers still out there competing today. This has shown to be an inspiration to so many who thought that this sport had an age limit. To this day Randy still supports and hosts some of the best events, gatherings and competitions the Northwest has ever seen. If you have ever been to one, then you know Randy somehow adds some extra energy to every event he attends.

It is difficult for our family to say that we now find ourselves in financial hardship. Unfortunately, we do not qualify for FMLA and not having the financial security to cover this has placed our family in a situation we have never faced before. Between the stress of the medical and household bills piling up while not being able to work and the stress of recovery, everything takes its toll and adds up quickly. We need some help, please. Randy has never been injured like this before in all his years of skating and this is not something we were prepared for. We pray that with the support of our friends, family and community, that we can all come together and help make this recovery process as painless as possible for everyone this injury has affected. All donations will go directly to medical and household bills. We all just want to see Randy back on his feet, working and being active in his community again. I want to thank you for taking the time to support a local family man and skate legend.

The Juarez family truly thanks you, loves you and prays for your support.

Crystal Juarez

For those of you who have taken the time to read this all the way through, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Randy has been nothing but humble through this whole process, asking for nothing while the community around him has come together to organize this fundraiser to help him during this difficult time. With that, we recognize (even beyond what Crystal has written above) that this hardship is going to span through the holidays which alone are a burden for many. It is our goal that this effort will not only just keep them above water, but hopefully allow them to also experience a wondrous holiday season as well.
