My cousin Angel de Jesús Vega García was diagnosed with testicular cancer two years ago. Last year, he started having problems with pleural effusion in his lung and a lump on his head. He was seeing a general practitioner, but when his cough persisted, the doctor ordered a lung scan, which revealed fluid in his lungs. We were then referred to Clinic 1. That's where the trouble began. According to the doctors, based on his history of testicular cancer, they determined that the fluid in his lung was also cancerous, without performing a biopsy. They inserted a chest tube to drain the fluid, and he was in that position for almost a month, but not much came out. The nurses started manipulating the lump on his head, supposedly to treat it. They would come in with syringes trying to suction it out, but all they did was make it grow much larger. That lump was sent to pathology, and the result was that it is NOT cancerous. However, they refused to send a sample of the lung fluid to pathology to confirm their diagnosis, which they insisted was cancer.
Even without a definitive diagnosis, they decided to discharge him and send him urgently for chemotherapy. He received the prescribed chemotherapy, but the fluid in his lung did not decrease.
We are desperate. My cousin was a university student, but he was expelled because he wasn't fully present for his assignments and classes during chemotherapy sessions. Furthermore, being expelled meant he lost his IMSS (Mexican Social Security Institute) coverage. We have consulted specialists seeking surgery for him.
The IMSS refused to remove the problem, and now the "lump," which was small before, is enormous. Some specialists told us they would operate, but after he was admitted, they canceled at the last minute due to the pleural effusion.
The surgery costs approximately 200,000 pesos, and we don't have that amount. If you'd like to help by donating a dollar or anything else, it would be a great blessing for my cousin's treatment. If you can help us share this and keep him in your prayers, please do. May God always bless you.
