Help support Jackie’s fight against MS

Multiple Sclerosis (MS), is an unpredictable and disabling disease that affects the brain and central nervous system (CNS). MS causes the immune system to attack the myelin, or protective sheath that covers nerve fibers and can disrupt, or totally block , communication between the brain and the rest of the body. People with MS may experience pain, double or loss of vision, tremors, muscle weakness, spasms or paralysis, difficulty walking, clumsiness or overactive reflexes. They may also experience fatigue, dizziness, heat and cold intolerance, poor balance, reduced sensation of touch, pins and needles, difficulty speaking or slurred speech. Other common symptoms of MS are, depression, constipation, difficulty swallowing, difficulty thinking and understanding, headache, sleep deprivation, heavy legs or difficulty raising the feet. Although MS is treatable, there is no cure for this degenerative disease. I believe I had symptoms as early as 1992, but was not diagnosed with MS until 2003. Fortunately the progression was slow in the beginning and I was able to keep working full time until 2015 when my worsening symptoms caused me to have to stop working and go on disability, with no return to work expected. Unfortunately MS has hurt not only my person, but also my personal financial situation due to the out of pocket expenses I’ve incurred. Medicare covers most, but by no means all of the cost of treatment leaving me with a financial burden. With your support, my goal is to pay off my current medical bills and purchase an additional mobility aid, or two! I currently rely on my cane for mobility and it’s fine for short distance but I’ve begun renting a walker or wheelchair for longer distances. Achieving these goals would improve my quality of life greatly. Won’t you please help me reach my goals and keep s’myelin?
