Anthony Fimognari Memorial Scholarship

Donation protected
The Anthony Fimognari Memorial Scholarship was established in memory and dedication to a former Youngstown Youth Symphony Orchestra student that passed away on September 29th, 2018. Anthony graduated in 2016 from Lowellville High School and was in his Junior year at the University of Akron majoring in Music Performance. While in high school, he was extremely devoted to his academics, extracurriculars, and community involvement. He was the Principal saxophonist in the Akron Honors Band and assistant principal clarinetist in the District V Honors Band. During his senior year he was the principal clarinetist in the Youngstown Youth Symphony Orchestra and received  through audition, the honor of being selected as a Senior Solo Concerto Winner.

This scholarship is open to graduating YSYO seniors. The applicant must have at least a 3.0 GPA, and is open to any major. The candidate selected demonstrated academic excellence, and community involvement. In addition required them to answer the question of what music meant to them and how it was that music impacted their lives.

Anthony impacted everyone he met with his musical talents and “larger than life” personality. This scholarship will continue to honor his memory and celebrate his musical endeavors. This year we hope to raise enough money to increase the scholarship award, or potentially have multiple scholarships for these deserving students.
