Callum's Top Surgery
Donation protected
I’m Callum a 23 year old transmasculine person from Southern Appalachia
Throughout the past 4 years I’ve been working on getting top surgery, but as a struggling low-income student without any family support (financial or otherwise) it has been very difficult to achieve this goal. Throughout my transition and especially since starting hormones, I have become estranged from my family therefore don’t receive any form of support from them. I think about having top surgery on a daily basis and have for years, and having to repeatedly put off my surgery due to my financial situation has worsened and prolonged my gender dysphoria around my chest.
I am currently a student but I fully support myself financially and am paying my way through school. Due to the global pandemic, I lost my main source of income and am currently unemployed and because I am immunocompromised, going back to work isn’t an option. I have everything in place for my surgery through a surgeon in Boston, Dr. Bartlett, but will have to pay full price because my North Carolinian insurance has outdated and transphobic restrictions around covering gender affirming surgeries.
It has taken a lot for me to get to a place where I feel comfortable asking for financial assistance from my community, but my wellbeing truly relies on being able to have this surgery. Thank you for to everyone that took the time to read and donate it is so greatly appreciated.
