I met the sweetest 91 yr old on my way home from work. She was standing alone on my street, looking lost. I stopped to help and she said she needed a ride to Walgreens to pick up her medicine. I took her and dropped her back at her house. She invited me in. We spoke for about an hour. She has no family and no friends. Her home is infested with roaches. It's very hard to breathe in there. Her upstairs roof is collapsing, so she sleeps downstairs in an old futon which is hurting her back. She's scared to take showers upstairs from fear that the roof will fall down on her, so she gives herself "sponge baths." I went and visited her today and bought her food, juice and cookies. She was so happy to see me. She's an animal lover, too. I brought my dog Daisy to meet her. My new friend's name is Jo Ann and I'd like to help her live however many years she has left with dignity and joy. Please help me help her. I'd like to get an exterminator, a plumber and a professional cleaning crew to get her home looking and smelling like a home again.
Thank you,
Sharlene
