Small change will make a big change in my life.
I have chronic pancreatitis. Since 2017 I have been hospitalized 11 times with acute attacks and treated for pain management but released from the ER twice as many times. I've had more CT scans than I can count, two extensive MRI series, an endoscopy, and two ERCPs. Both my bile duct and pancreatic duct had to be cut open and dilated.
I am on 24-hour tube feeds right now and only allowed to take clear liquids by mouth. I will be having a percutaneous J tube placed soon. I will hopefully be able to take food by mouth again in the future. But J tube feeding is going to remain a part of my life from now on.
Pancreatitis is a poorly understood disease. It carries a huge stigma due to the high percentage of cases that are associated with heavy alcohol consumption. Many of us with this disease are labeled drug-seeking, belittled, gaslighted, or flatly called liars by the medical professionals who are our only hope of relief.
In November 2019 I was forced to stop working by this horrible illness. I applied for disability over a year ago. I have had a review, a reconsideration, and have finally been granted a hearing to take place in early 2021. I need your help. My family and close friends have exhausted their resources to help me. Any donation helps me stay housed and afford healthcare until I win my disability case.
