PLEASE HELP US HELP XIOMARA AND HER FAMILY

Xiomara Chimbo is a 13 year old, 7th grade student at Sleepy Hollow Middle School. Xiomara is a bright student with a breathtaking smile. She is a loyal friend to so many, an amazing daughter, and a great big sister.

On May 2nd, as Xiomara was walking home from school with friends, she was tragically struck by a car. Xiomara is receiving medical treatment at Maria Ferrari Children's Hospital, where she is currently in a medically induced coma.  The extent of her injuries have yet to be determined.

We are asking for any help for the family of Xiomara as the length of her recovery will be extensive with much needed therapy and other medical expenses to follow. Anything you can possibly contribute, no matter how seemingly small, will be of great help to the family and deeply appreciated by all who love Xiomara.  If you would like to send a direct donation, please inquire as to where that can be forwarded.

Please pray for Xiomara and let's come together and help show our love and support for her and her family!

The family thanks the entire community for all the love and support they have shown thus far.

Here is an update from the family who is still in need of financial help due to the extensive hospital stay and therapy..

It’s been over a month since we’ve moved to Blythedale and our experience here has been wonderful. Everyone is so nice and very attentive to anything we need. We are so thankful for everyone here at Blythedale who has helped Xiomy in any type of way on her road to recovery. We are so amazed at Xiomy’s progress. It’s truly a miracle to see her doings the things they once told us she wasn’t going to be able to do. Hopefully we’ll be going home soon. We are still not sure when that will happen, but hopefully very soon she’ll be starting an outpatient program here at Blythedale. This will allow her to come home after she’s had a full day of school including her therapies. Thank you to everyone for always having our family and Xiomy in your thoughts and prayers!

Update from the family as of 5/29/19:

Today is a good day! Xiomy has been transferred to Blythedale Children’s Hospital to begin acute rehabilitation. She is making more progress every day! We are beyond appreciative of everyone reaching out and praying for her. We really believe her recovery is a miracle. She is doing new things every day and we believe she will be back to her old self in no time at all!!

The doctors have advised that we refrain from having visitors just yet, as she is very sensitive, and they do not want things to trigger her right now. We hope she will be ready soon! Again, we appreciate all the good energy and prayers you guys are sending her way!!!

A great update from Xiomara’s family:
We want to start off by saying thank you to everyone for all the love, support and prayers! Thank you for being considerate and respecting our privacy. It has been a rollercoaster of emotions these past 2 weeks but we are happy to say that Xiomy is doing a lot better! We still don’t know the extent of her brain injury but she’s up and she’s moving little by little. Xiomara will be starting rehabilitation soon and we still have a long journey ahead of us, but little by little she’ll become more independent. Soon we’ll have our Xiomy back. Please continue to keep Xiomy in your prayers because this is just the beginning. She’s a fighter! She’s strong! And together we’ll get through this!
