So after battling for weeks now going back and forth with facilities and the insurance company I finally got an answer but then hit another brick wall. So while she was ready for discharge and we were trying to line up a Florida facility, she developed the bad bed wounds and infection on her sacrum due to poor hygiene practices with the nurses. They were not proper in their care with sanitation and disinfection protocol. Over the past few weeks of trying to get her transfer lined up she was being massively neglected and alot of malpractice was and still is going on. I have been in contact with every single superior entity in that place and STILL no corrective actions have been taken. None!!! NOW when I finally find a facility to accept her the insurance denies the transfer bc they say she is no longer stable to transfer due to her sacrum injury that was caused by the hospital. So all the initial injuries from her car accident are ready for rehab but now she is unstable due to their negligence!!! The very same morning I get the answer yes from the facility I get the answer No from insurance in the same email. I'm so beyond pissed off their are no words. I am still fighting to have Jessica moved to Florida but now Iowa is saying they are dropping her coverage and falling back from the fight. They will then force us into a corner to apply for Louisiana medicaid which she will automatically be approved for since she has been a resident over 30 days. Then they want to transfer her to an instate sister facility to that mess of a facility she is in right now. So they can injure her even more!!! I am in the process of trying to get her on florida medicaid but they need birth cert and ssc documents I'm waiting on in the mail. I'm looking at getting private insurance but once again I cant afford any extra expenses. Im already in the hole and have gone thru our entire family savings I had put up for my children. Then the attorney invoice came in now that the permanent guardianship is final. That invoice consists of $6,396.50!! Not including any fees it will cost to have it transferred to Florida from Louisiana. I'm at a loss for words. I can't afford to be there with her monitoring the staff like I need to be. Who knows what eles they will do or WONT do for her. Knowing she cant speak on their care or lack there of. Things got so much worse with her wound when I had to leave for 2 weeks. Now it's so bad all her skin had to be scraped away down to her tail bone!!! She is at high risk for bone infection and that could lead to so many other horrible things. Please keep praying and please PLEASE donate if you can! This fight isn't over and she still really needs us!!! She didn't fight this hard and this far for us to give up now!! I am updating this because we are now in need of additional funds for an attorney so I can gain guardianship over her. If I can not gain guardianship over her, they are making arrangements to cart her off to NEBRASKA!!!!! I absolutely can not let this happen! I WILL NOT LOSE HER AGAIN!! I am in need of 1500 for a raletainer fee in order to start this process. I can take care of the rest on a monthly payment plan. However, I do need help with the initial 1500 to start. If you can, please PLEASE find it in your heart to help us make this goal. I would so greatly appreciate it more than words could ever express. The idea of her being all the way out there with no support system, alone, is NOT sitting right with me at all. I have tried and tried and TRIED many other ways and exhausted all other options. Hello my name is Denea. My sister Jessica was hit by a car while walking across the road and is now in critical condition in the ICU in New Orleans Louisiana. She is in a coma and on life support. All of her family lives out of state in Iowa and Florida. We are looking for help with raising enough funds to help us remain out here with her. The hospital she is in doesn't offer any kinds of accommodations for the families in the ICU. You can't even sleep in the waiting room in between visits. We are exhausting all our funds on lodging, food, and transportation. We are hoping to raise enough funds to help keep us here with Jessica until she can make it back home to us. It's already said we will be here for a few weeks at the minimum and maybe even months. Please help our family stay here with her so she doesn't have to be going through any of this alone.
