As hard as this is, I need to ask for help. My four year old dog, Mason, just had to undergo emergency surgery due to the rapid decline in mobility over the past few days. He is honestly my hold world and I would do anything for him. Mason came into my life when I was struggling and he’s been my happiness ever since.
Tuesday at 2am I came home from work to find him in visible discomfort, so I took him right to the emergency vet. The doctor tried to find the problem with an x-ray, amongst other costly things. By mid day Tuesday, I had to bring him back in because the pain was clearly increasing. On Wednesday morning, he could not hold himself up to walk or move around. We were sent to a neurologist for an MRI that led to the discovery he had a ruptured disc in his spine that was interfering with his spinal cord’s ability to properly function. The doctor informed me that he most likely would’ve permanently lost the ability to walk if we didn't act on it. I put the costs on two credit cards but with the current covid crisis and me being part of a small business which is being heavily affected by the pandemic, it's made money very difficult. Sadly, this is not the first time in the last few months that vet bills have hit. My other dog Taco had some serious health problems, but is now healthy and doing well, thank god. Unfortunately, the final cost is still unclear on how much Mason’s care will be. I know this is a hard time for everyone, but please know I wouldn't take a single bit for granted.
