Thank you all for visiting our page and taking the time to read our story.
After 2 years of trying to have a baby and going through IVF, we had our 4th and 5th losses. What started as a pregnancy with twins (to our surprise) ended with losing both babies, one at 8 weeks gestation and the second at 15 weeks gestation. We were lucky enough to spend that much time with them and named the second baby Emmett after learning he was a boy.
Emmett was our last embryo from our IVF round, which means we now need to start from the beginning—another round of tests, stims, retrieval, and transfers. All while grieving the loss of our babies.
While IVF gives us hope, the reality is that it is not guaranteed. We now know that our babies have not made it through pregnancy due to genetic and chromosomal abnormalities. We have been told that 1 out of 4 of our embryos have a chance of being genetically normal and making it to birth. In order to know which ones these are, we will need to genetically test our future embryos so we can be sure to transfer genetically healthy ones.
Unfortunately, the lab that is genetically testing our embryos charges $350 per embryo and requires payment upfront. We are estimating spending $10k-$15k depending on how many embryos we retrieve, in addition to the medical bills that come along with IVF (copays, medication, procedures). Yes, we have insurance, but naturally, insurance requires an itemized receipt once the process is completed, and only then will they determine IF and what they will reimburse for.
So here we are, leaning on our community. Hoping and praying for a miracle that we will have support in raising the funds to genetically test our embryos and hopefully have our future baby.
Every donation matters and means the world to us. THANK YOU will never be enough to express our gratitude for helping us have our family.
