Hi, my name is Hannah and I’m fundraising for my beautiful girl’s veterinary care following a traumatic event.

On 4th January 2026, our beautiful little girl, Melody, came home extremely injured. We didn’t know what had happened so we rushed her to the vets where she remained for 3 days.

Following a CT scan, we discovered she had suffered severe injuries to her head, primarily in her jaw and had to have emergency surgery to stabilize her jaw and fix her soft palette which had split in two. Her mouth was sewn up using sutures and buttons to allow the complex jaw fractures to try and heal. She has been tube fed since and will need to undergo further surgery, as well as needing extensive dental work in the future.

She is still on really strong painkillers but is making good progress and the vet is confident she will make a full recovery. Of course we asked what had happened to her and the vet was unable to say for sure. They have suggested that someone could have done this to her because her injuries were so contained (there are no other injuries to her body). It absolutely breaks my heart to think that someone could do this to a defenseless animal. Ultimately we will never truly know what happened but the thought that this could have been avoided is devastating.

As you can imagine, we have been left with a vets bill nearing £10,000 with the promise that this will increase as she needs further surgery. We had her insured for £5000 thinking this would be more than sufficient if she ever needed veterinary care but the insurance company have so far refuted some of the claim and the bill has already exceeded our cover amount anyway.

Following an awareness post on our local Facebook group, some people suggested trying a GoFundMe to raise some of the money for the veterinary care. I don’t expect anything from anyone but we are deeply grateful that there have been people asking to donate. Any money raised will go solely towards Melody’s care.

Melody has her next vet appointment on Wednesday 21st January so I will keep this page updated with her progress.
