My Husband and Father of our Two Children was Detained in Sacramento: Support our Family
On August 3, 2025, my husband Cesar, the father of our two children and my family’s primary provider, was suddenly arrested by ICE after 9 years of living in the U.S. and transferred to Imperial Detention Center near the border with Mexico. My two daughters (ages 16 and 6) and I are now left without his support, and I am struggling to pay rent, buy groceries, and care for my eldest daughter, who has cerebral palsy and requires specialized medical care.
My family and I escaped horrific persecution in El Salvador, seeking safety in the U.S. nearly a decade ago. Around 2019, shortly before our youngest daughter was born, Cesar was arrested by ICE but released on parole under an order of supervision. Now, ICE has decided to enforce a previous removal order, leaving my children and I without the anchor of our family.

With Cesar detained, I am left without his support to cover food, rent and specialized medical care for my child with cerebral palsy. My attempts to obtain support from local nonprofits have only resulted in me being placed on waiting lists.
