Support the Chibhira Fam, Keep Tinashe in School!

Hi all! My name is Amy, and I'm living in Johannesburg, South Africa. I first connected with the Chibhira family through Precious, an awesome mom who is going door to door, selling beautiful items that she and her husband Jasmael (top photo) have made. I've bought a few things from her and love the high-quality work they do.
I was so heartbroken to find out that last year, Jasmael was badly injured when he was hit by a minibus taxi and thrown to the side of the road. The driver did not stop to help him. Luckily some Good Samaritans were there at the time of the hit-and-run to assist Jasmael and get him to the hospital. Sadly, his legs were severely impacted, and he was in serious pain for months. Unfortunately during this time, he couldn't work, and the family's finances have been suffering as a result. Precious tried to keep up with work as much as she could, but with four children and less training than Jasmael, she struggled to make it all work and bring in the money that the family needed, not only for school fees, but just for basic survival.
The Chibhira's have 4 children and are trying to keep them all in school. Even public school has a cost in South Africa, but their oldest son Tinashe (pictured below) has been fortunate enough to attend a private school - Curro Academy - in Johannesburg since 2021. The family is so proud of him! As the money stopped coming in last year, Precious and Jasmael were not able to keep up with his school fees, and have gone into debt with the school. Tinashe was able to finish his Grade 11 year, but in January, the school said that he could not come back for his final year if the debts were not paid. Precious and Jasmael have been in such a difficult position, deeply wanting their eldest son to finish high school, but simply not having the funds to ensure that he could go back.
So I decided to step in to try and support the family however I could! It's coming in the form of this campaign. :) I called the school last week and sent them a letter, assuring them that I would do my best to raise some money for the Chibhira family, to cover the debt and allow Tinashe to go back to school. Based on this, the school has agreed to let Tinashe come back to start his final year! However, they have said that if the debt is not paid soon, they will have to kick him out of school.
So here I am, doing my best to spread the word, and counting on the compassion of amazing people to help support this family in what has been such a dark time. I want to make sure that Tinashe can finish his high school education and have the opportunity to take his next step in life. And I want Precious and Jasmael to not have to constantly worry about their futures and the futures of their 3 other children. They are doing their best, despite their struggles. And I want to do my best for them.
If we get to the goal, we can cover the entire debt and help Tinashe with some of this year's school fees as well. Precious said that before we spoke, she was getting desperate. She said that anyone who can help, even in a small way, is an absolute God-send. Know that you will be making an incredible difference to a wonderful family.
Thank you!
