Hi all,
I absolutely hate to ask, but I could use any help you can give for our Golden boy.
Percy has been struggling with food intolerance, low energy, and episodes of sickness for over a year. He has visited the vet at least once a month his issues, he was referred to specialists in dermatology and internal medicine, and he's had extensive testing.
In good and bad news, on Thursday Jan 25, Percy had an acute episode of vomiting and GI distress only 2 weeks before his appointment with internal medicine. Luckily his vet specialist is also a 24 hour emergency facility. Though he had to be hospitalized for 24 hours, he was able to get the initial tests done to put us on the right track. An ultrasound found his intestines had ileus, where they were so inflamed that they had lost the ability to function and move food through his GI tract.
Percy will be getting a full GI (upper and lower) scope and biopsy on Sunday January 28th to conclusively diagnose the cause and start treatment.
Unfortunately, both his hospitalization and scope procedure have cost $10,000 in one week. This year alone, Percy has made claims on his pet insurance for multiple vet visits, allergy testing, treatments, and specialist visits. His remaining insurance will only cover about $2500 of these bills, and we have not received an estimate on treatment yet.
Please give us some help if you can.
*Edit - In true "just our luck" fashion, Percy was dropped off for his endoscopy on the 28th only for the vet hospital to call and say they had found out their scope was broken. Tentatively recheduled for Feb 4th or Feb 11th unless I find another hospital with an opening.
