My dad Chris has always been a family man. He's the type pf guy to put the needs of everyone else before himself. He works 8 hour shifts every day, sometimes even working overtime to support his family. Without a doubt, he's the kindest and most considerate man you could ever meet. After he started having persisting intense cold symptoms for a few months , as well as pain and swelling in his neck and jaw, he finally decided to consult a physician about it all. After several trips to the doctor with varied opinions, our family received news that would change everything.
A CT scan revealed several tumors in his neck, lymph nodes, and on the back of his tongue, as well as one in his lung. The probability of these tumors being cancerous was very high, and the next day our family got the worst possible news back. After biopsy, it was found that he has stage three squamous cell carcinoma, with the worst of the tumors wrapping around his carotid artery. This news, however, did little to stunt my dad's humor and care.
After struggling with the loss of his mother, as well as many financial issues within recent months, he still continues to be one of the best people you could possibly ask to be around. His sense of humor, and kind attitude continue to astound anyone who meets him, and the support from friends and family since the diagnosis has been incredible. With the onslaught of chemo and radiation in the very near future, our family is going to have to put his care at the very top of our priorities. Seeing as he was the only member of the family that was able to provide financial support, we're seeking help to keep our family going until we can get everyone back up and running after this fight is over.
