Hi everyone,
my name is Jake Bain, my pronouns are he/him, and I am a 23 year old getting ready to start my final semester of college at the University of Missouri - St. Louis. I will be getting my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology, and a minor in Sport Management, and plan to continue to work as the Street Team Leader at St. Louis CITY sc, the newest club in MLS, following my graduation in May.
Unfortunately, my dog son, Diesel, had an infection in his right lung which required major surgery to remove the majority of his lung. I adopted Diesel after fostering him from Care STL back in September of 2022, and he has been an absolute joy and ray of sunshine in my life since the first day I brought him home. I truly love him as my own son, and would do anything to help my boy.
Given the fact that I am a senior in college, the recent medical bills I have incurred due to Diesel’s procedure, and the months it took to figure out the issue, I find myself in a position in which I hate to be in, but I am faced with because at the end of the day, I’ll do whatever it takes to save my son.
I come from a family with a single mother who has needed financial support herself as an elementary school teacher raising 3 sons, and my family is unfortunately unable to provide much financial assistance for Diesel at this time.
Over the last 2 months, Diesel’s vet bills have soared far past what I make in a month working a full time job while also getting my degree, and have made things extremely challenging for me financially.
100% of the funds collected from this page will go towards Diesel’s surgery, and what may end up being multiple surgeries, as well as his aftercare expenses while he is having to stay 24/7 at VSS, a speciality vet hospital, which in itself costs more than the surgery.
I truly appreciate all of the love and support we have received over the last few days, and encourage you all to keep sending them! Diesel needs all of the good vibes and thoughts he can possibly get right now, as it will be a long road to recovery for my baby. But he is young, strong, and full of love, and has a daddy that would do anything in the world for him, so I know he is going to get through this tough time and have a long, happy, healthy life ahead of him.
I truly appreciate anything you may be able to give at this time, and just want my baby boy to be okay.
Sincerely,
Jake Bain (He/Him)
