On Thursday, May 14th, my sister Nikki Bissell, was admitted to Froedtert Hospital in acute liver failure. She received a liver and kidney transplant on June 13, 2015.
While Nikki has insurance, and the transplant was successful, she has been in and out of the ICU since she was admitted, and has accrued a number of medical bills. She has a very long road to recovery that will include physical and occupational rehabilitation, not to mention numerous visits to the doctor for checkups.
As you can imagine, all of this has been very stressful for Nikki, and adding to it is the fact that she cannot work and probably will not be able to return to work for at least 9-12 months. To assist in her recovery, we are in the process of trying to find suitable housing for her, preferably near Froedtert Hospital. All of this has taken a financial toll on our family, so we are reaching out to anyone who would want to help make this time in Nikki's life a little less stressful for her.
