Locomotion for Luke
Donation protected
Luke was born and had severely tight legs that pulled back to either side. His feet were pushed up and touched his shins. After much physical therapy and castings, his legs straightened to an acceptable point. His doctors were unsure if he'd even be able to walk. In fact,no doctor has been able to identify his disorder.
To the shock of doctors he began to walk at age 3, at age 9 he once again stumped doctors and was able to ride a bicycle on his own.
These simple accomplishments were in fact great. Luke cannot run, skip, jump, or do any basic tasks that require leg muscles. He has been told he has servere muscle atrophy. Anything he can do, he has taught himself or adjusted to his abilities.
His biggest problem he is facing at the moment is walking. He tires within minutes and must sit to regain strength. He is and always will be motivated to do, just needs to adjust what that means constantly. He knows God has given him these legs for a purpose. He would give anything to be able to run and play sports. But as God's purpose is perfect we know Luke will succeed, just not as we would have perhaps planned.
At this point in his journey we are working on walking. Making it possible to move without pain or extreme fatigue.
He will make it, after all God's plan is perfect and in our eyes so are his legs. Perfectly planned, perfectly created, perfectly loved.
Please consider helping Luke maintain his mobility. Friends and family seek your help in purchasing this Segway.
