Hello! My name is Jun, and I am a cello major with two semesters left until graduation. This means that if my graduation and visa applications are successful by May, I plan on moving to Germany in June.

What this will look like -

I will be moving in with my fiancé, and we will bring my dog Tucker along for the journey.

With the visa I am applying for, the government requires that I do not work for three months upon my arrival. During this time I plan to find a cello teacher to study under, continue learning the language for certification needs, and assimilate into a new culture.

I am moving to Germany on a specific type of visa that requires the A1 certification in the German language. While I am working hard toward that, my studying isn’t over. Once I’ve lived in Germany long enough to meet the visas needs, I will apply for grad school which requires the B2 certification.

Once I am free to work and able to speak the language to the proficiency level required, I will audition for a masters program. I have three schools in mind, which I won’t list for safety reasons, but I am very excited to have the opportunity to apply myself for this next chapter. :)

Those who know me are aware of my dedication to my craft and my schooling. I currently work three jobs while in full time school so that I can pay my rent and take care of Tucker. I am on the Deans List at my school, and currently have a 3.8 GPA. I have worked 16-18 hour days and stayed up late nights to finish homework, and I am incredibly happy to do so if it means I can provide the space for myself to continue my education.

Living in Germany will not only provide me more education opportunities, but it will provide a landscape of education on its own with all of the music history Germany has to offer. In one of my last visits I was able to visit Brahms’ Haus as well as Clara Schumann’s. :)

This money will go towards -

Visa applications: The specific visa I am applying for requires paperwork that has fees attached to it. I need to professionally translate some documents in German, which requires a fee also.

German language testing fees: The testing fee for my first application is €200. This does not include the travel needed to take the test, as the state I currently live in does not provide a testing center.

Tucker’s safe transportation: Tucker is my senior dog who I cannot live without, and I wouldn’t put him through losing our connection at the end of his life. So, he’s coming with me. This will be the biggest cost, as he is a very big boy, and the fees to transport him safely are high.

Time off of work while visa applications process (requirement by the German government): I will legally not be allowed to make an income in Germany for the first

three months. While I am lucky to have my fiancé, I don’t want to solely depend on him to support Tucker and I. This money will help aid my transition in being able to join the workforce in Germany.

I am asking for help through this platform because I work very hard to afford my bills, but I would have to sacrifice my schooling if I were to add anymore work to continue to save. I currently average 40-50 hours a week with work, while averaging 7-10 classes a semester. This does not include performances, rehearsals, and recital attendance requirements. While working this much, I just make ends meet - sometimes falling short in places financially in order to get by. Any help would assure that I can get to my goals safely and in a way that won’t put me in a financial hole.
